The Department of Radiology offers medical students a variety of two and four week rotations focused on the fundamentals of diagnostic imaging and its role in patient care. Additional electives are available with focuses in Emergency Radiology and Interventional Radiology. Students planning to pursue specialties other than radiology are encouraged to target their experience towards sections that will be relevant to their future careers.
Students attend daily faculty lectures alongside residents and spend time in readout, where they can observe the imaging exams and ask questions to the resident and attending radiologists. There is a dedicated medical student lecture series during this rotation that is given by attending and resident physicians. For more information, visit the GW Graduate Medical Education Website. A pediatric radiology rotation is also available through our partnering facility Children's National Hospital.
